Adult entertainment stores coming to Clay County?

Residents of Clay County could soon see sex shops showing up in the area.

A new ordinance being drafted addresses the current zoning laws, which don't address adult entertainment stores. The new ordinance would allow sex shops in heavily industrial and business zoned areas.

Some residents say they'd rather see the sex shops stay in the city.

Other residents say it would be foolish for the county to turn away legitimate business.

"I think that's something they should keep, like downtown. I don't think it belongs in Clay County at all," resident Dana Johnson tells our partner Action News.

"If it's a way that somebody can bring another business into Jacksonville and allow some peope to have a job then I don't understand why Clay County would deny it," says resident Gena McGuire.

The ordinance is still being drafted. Currently sex shops allowed in Duval and St. Johns Counties.
