Bands rock, crowds flock to the 12th year of PorchFest in Historic Springfield on Saturday

The year, more than 20 musical acts were set to perform from noon to 8 p.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Thousands of people took to the streets of Historic Springfield north of Downtown Jacksonville for the 12th year of PorchFest on Saturday.

The free, family-friendly music festival is held on the beautiful front porches of the historic neighborhood. This year, more than 20 musical acts were set to perform from noon to 8 p.m.

Crowds milled around, with people sampling bites from food trucks, drinking craft beer, and shopping at arts vendors lining the streets.

“PorchFest is a one-of-a-kind event, and we are honored to return as presenting sponsor for such a beloved neighborhood tradition,” said Bryan Moll, CEO of Gateway Jax, which is developing nearby Pearl Square - a mixed-use urban neighborhood.

“As Springfield’s newest neighbors, we share a deep commitment to celebrating the unique culture and spirit of Jacksonville’s urban neighborhoods,” Moll said.

Proceeds from the festival support public arts in Jacksonville’s Urban Core. Since PorchFest began in 2014, proceeds have funded more than a dozen public art installations, including murals, sculptures, painted crosswalks, and more.
