The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says they are investigating after rocks were thrown at several school buses as they traveled on County Road 218 in the Clay Hill area, west of Middleburg Monday morning.
The Clay County School District says two buses were damaged in total, including broken windows. There was one high school student on one of those buses, but nobody was hurt. The School District says the buses were brought back to the transportation department to assess the damage and swap them out, so the morning routes could be finished.
CCSO continues to search for a suspect or suspects responsible.
Deputies are stressing that no shots were fired. The Sheriff’s Office says the call was dispatched as a shots fired incident and there were rocks found on the buses that were hit.
