Jacksonville FL — On Friday, the City of Jacksonville provided more details on how you can get a vaccine at the two former coronavirus testing sites that are being converted into vaccination sites. The two sites will be at the Mandarin and Lane Wiley Senior Centers. Mayor Lenny Curry says there will be some differences at the two sites coming online compared to the vaccination site at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. The mayor says you won’t have to make an appointment, instead the city is asking people to show up to the two new sites on the day that’s associated with their birth month. Meaning, people 65 or older and front-line health care workers born in January or February will need to show up Monday at 11AM to get vaccinated, then on Tuesday, people born in March and April will need to show up and so on. We’re told this is designed to prevent overcrowding around the vaccination sites. Below we’ve outlined the entire schedule for you.
• Monday – January and February
• Tuesday – March and April
• Wednesday – May and June
• Thursday – July and August
• Friday – September and October
• Saturday – November and December
The city says everyone showing up will need to bring a photo ID that shows their date of birth and proves that they are a resident of Duval County, and front-line healthcare workers will need to bring a work badge. We’re told you’ll also need to bring a completed vaccine screening and consent form from the department of health. Overnight parking won’t be permitted and there will be restrooms available for those getting vaccinated.
Mayor Lenny Curry says the number of vaccines available at the Mandarin Senior Center is 500 a day and 475 will be available at the Lane Wiley Senior Center. They will be available on a first come, first serve basis. After receiving the vaccine, the city says you’ll need to wait at least 15 minutes to be monitored for any potential reactions and some people might have to wait for 30 minutes based on their medical history.
The following guidelines have been outlined to make sure the whole process runs as smoothly and safely as possible.
• A mask must be worn at all times
• Physical distancing requirements must be followed at all times
• Individuals who are feeling sick should not go to a vaccination site
• Patients should be in line no earlier than 10 a.m. and no later than 6 p.m.
• Only caretakers may accompany patients who require assistance to a vaccination site
• Patients must park in the designated parking areas; patients cannot be dropped off at the line
• Parking and waiting in line overnight will not be permitted
• Patients should follow traffic patterns to the sites and instructions from traffic monitors
Here are the maps the city provided about the traffic patterns at each vaccination site.
The two vaccination sites will be open from 11AM until 7PM Monday through Saturday.
