City of Jacksonville plans to light 56-foot Christmas tree during December Art Walk

There’s a big change this year when it comes to the City of Jacksonville’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

For years it’s been a tradition to light up the night at the Jacksonville Landing. But since the building is being demolished, the big event is moving to Hemming Park.

You can check it out for yourself during next Wednesday’s Art Walk. The monthly event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. with the tree lighting after sundown at 6:25 p.m.

This year’s tree is 56 feet tall with over 78,000 LED lights and 150 ornaments.

The City is thanking the Sleiman family for donating the tree in honor Eli Sleiman Sr. and Josephine Sleiman.
