CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE 6:10 PM: In a briefing, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office says the incident started when they received calls about the suspect, Daniel Siewert, making claims about committing suicide on a TikTok live stream. A deputy was dispatched to Siewert’s house and showed no signs of physical injuries and denied making statements of self-harm.

An hour later, Siewert allegedly made claims that he was ready to take on law enforcement and would be ready if they came back. Deputies responded to the house again after a relative called CCSO. Siewert left the residence. Deputies were able to track where he went on camera and where he went to a business area with a gun. CCSO says deputies set up a perimeter and learned that Siewert was texting about a shooting with law enforcement and located him on Blanding Boulevard.

CCSO says after deputies tried to talk to Siewert, he pointed a gun at deputies. Another deputy shot him, and he surrendered after a deputy talked to him to do so. Siewert was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital. No deputies were injured.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is responding to a deputy-involved shooting near 80 Blanding Boulevard.

Deputies say that there is a heavy law enforcement presence as the scene remains active. There is no threat to the community.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No deputies were injured.

Action News Jax is sending a crew to the scene and will update the story as more information is released.
