Clay deputies search for missing “violent” criminal

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help finding Steven M. Kocis; a convicted, registered and violent habitual offender who deputies said left the county.

According to a news release, Kocis is currently wanted on a felony warrant for his failure to comply with registration requirements.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement lists his long list of crimes, which span from cocaine possession and check fraud to aggravated assault, car theft, burglary and trafficking stolen property.

Mr. Kocis has been known to spend time in Alachua and Duval Counties, possibly working in the construction trade.
