Countywide student voter registration Drive competition

Duval County Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland is launching a major civic engagement initiative aimed at registering the next generation of voters. The Supervisor of Elections Office will visit 28 schools across Duval County to pre-register and register eligible students, encouraging early participation in the democratic process. The effort includes a friendly competition among participating schools, with the chance to earn the prestigious Freedom Award Trophy and be named the “Most Civic-Minded High School in Duval County.” In Florida, students can pre-register to vote at age 16, as long as they meet all other eligibility requirements. Pre-registration automatically becomes an active voter registration once the individual turns 18. Election officials say the goal is to register as many eligible students, age 16 and older, at each school as possible. Students who wish to register or pre-register will need one of the following: a Florida driver’s license number, a Florida identification card number, or the last four digits of their Social Security number. Election officials say the initiative is designed to build lifelong voting habits and strengthen civic participation across Duval County.
