Curfews have been imposed in many parts of Northeast Florida because of Hurricane Irma.

The curfew for Jacksonville’s beaches started Saturday night at 10PM and continued through 6AM Sunday. That will continue until further notice. Alcohol sales have also been prohibited until further notice.

In St. Johns County, there is a nightly curfew starting 8PM Sunday night through 6AM Monday morning. That applies for the City of St. Augustine Beach, the City of St. Augustine, and portions of St. Johns County east of the Intracoastal Waterway on the barrier islands. That will also remain in effect nightly until further notice.

Nassau County has now issued a curfew as well starting 6PM Sunday through 8AM Monday, and continuing as long as Irma impacts the area.

Clay County has now issued a curfew that lasts for 24 hours- from 8PM Sunday to 8PM Monday. Clay County Emergency Management says they decided to make the curfew an entire day because of the expected timing of the peak conditions of the storm. The curfew is county-wide.

Baker County has not issued any curfews. They’re encouraging everyone to shelter in place during the storm.

The curfew generally means that you may be required to show identification to law enforcement if you are out at times you shouldn’t be. The curfew is designed to keep people off the streets during potentially unsafe conditions.
