Jacksonville, FL — A $29.9 million incentives package has cleared a major hurdle. Jacksonville's Downtown Investment Authority unanimously approved 'Project Sharp' during their meeting Wednesday afternoon.
The deal involves an unnamed company seeking nearly $30 million in incentives in exchange for adding 500 new jobs and building a new downtown corporate headquarters and parking garage.
According to the terms filed with the DIA, the company's proposed headquarters would be 300,000 square-feet, with the capital investment expected to be around $145 million.
[ The city would carry a majority of the incentives funding, through grants and property tax rebates. ]
Even with DIA approval, the City Council still needs to sign off.
The company behind this deal is not named in the project documents, as Florida law allows confidentiality in these types of agreements.
