Dump truck damages overpass on I-95 in St. Johns County

FDOT engineers inspecting damage, lanes closed until further notice.

Jacksonville, Fl — TRAFFIC UPDATE: All lanes are now reopened on I-95 SB at County Road 214, after construction workers inspected the overpass, which was struck by a dump truck overnight. Drivers are back to a speed-limit drive through the area.

Florida Department of Transportation crews are inspecting damage the County Road 214 bridge over I-95 in St. Johns County.

A dump truck struck the overpass early Wednesday morning, causing concrete to tumble to the pavement below. The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office says CR214 east and westbound lanes will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.

“As is procedure, FOT bridge crews will complete their inspection and reopen lanes based on conditions. Safety is the number one priority of FDOT and we appreciate motorists understanding and patience.”, said FDOT spokesman Hampton Ray.

According to FDOT, bridge crews responded as soon as notification was received.
