Duval County reaches 500 COVID-19 deaths since pandemic started

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In Thursday’s Florida Department of Health report, Duval County is reporting 500 COVID-19 deaths since March.

Duval County reported 6 new deaths that are related to COVID-19 in Wednesday’s report.

This does not mean that those deaths occurred in 24 hours, but that they have been reported to the Florida Department of Health since yesterday’s report.

The people who passed away in Duval County ranged from 12 to 103.

The death toll in the state is now at 15,932.

The 12-year-old was Elizabeth McNew, a girl from Atlantic Beach who went to Mayport Coastal Sciences Middle School’s HomeRoom program. She died on Sept. 25.

Clay County is reporting a total of 113 deaths. St. Johns County total deaths is at 78. Nassau County is reporting 50 total deaths and Baker County is reporting 17 total deaths.

This brings the total metro area total death rate to 758 deaths.
