Jacksonville, FL — A Duval County teacher is given a five day suspension after the district found she allowed the daughter of another teacher to receive unapproved accommodations for the FSA Test.
In the district’s investigation, a complaint details statements from several people accusing Fletcher High School reading coach, Megan Taber, of breaking test protocols.
The violation was first reported to the Office of Equity and Inclusion/Professional Standards. The director of testing said they received a complaint that Taber allowed the daughter of another Fletcher High teacher, Cara Christensen, to leave the designated testing area.
The report details at Christensen’s request, Taber gave the student a laptop and allowed her to move to two separate locations during their testing session.
In statements from Taber to district investigators, she admitted to relocating the student for testing. She also said did not check the student to see if she had a cell phone, nor did she administer test instructions for the student.
Taber was given a five day suspension by the district, as they found she violated the Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession.
Cara Christensen, considered a co-subject, is still under investigation by the district and could also face punishment.
