Jacksonville —

Duval County residents will be able to apply for a year’s worth of rent - and in some cases 15 months - and utility assistance through Jacksonville’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program through an online portal starting tomorrow at 8 a.m.

Since June, the city of Jacksonville has distributed over $15 million dollars in federal funding to those whose incomes were affected by COVID-19 and/or the threat of unemployment, and therefore the threat of eviction.

Jacksonville partnered with JEA and the United Way of Northeast Florida to restart the application until $10 million dollars of the program’s remaining funds are used.

Federal guidelines require that income falls below 80 percent of the median income for individuals and families.

Eligible Duval County households must include one or more individuals who are obligated to pay rent; one or more who have qualified for unemployment benefits, experienced a reduction in income, incurred significant costs, or experienced other financial hardships due directly or indirectly, to COVID-19.

Households can also demonstrate a risk of homelessness or housing instability through eviction notices or unsafe or unhealthy living conditions.

Priority will be given to households with an income at or below 50% area median income and to those who can prove that they have remained unemployed for at least 90 days.

Household size Total Income

Four people $60,000

Five people $64,800
