The Thursday morning rush hour was heavy and slow through Arlington because construction near the Town Center.

The left lane on I-295 E. Beltway at Beach Boulevard was blocked beyond the scheduled opening, finally reopening just before 9:00 am.

According to FDOT, the contractor experienced an equipment failure that resulted in a lane closure during the morning rush hour.

“FDOT regrets the inconvenience to motorists and will take appropriate corrective action with the contractor.”, said FDOT’s Hampton Ray.

Last week the First Alert Traffic team covered construction delays on the West Beltway at Collins Road, which was also attributed to an equipment failure during paving.

Hubbard Construction Company was selected to complete this $19.3 million milling and resurfacing project from Beach Boulevard to JTB. In addition to milling and resurfacing, the project will include asphalt widening and new shoulder construction, curb and gutter, drainage improvements, guardrail, highway signing, lighting and intelligent transportation systems.

It was projected to be completed this summer.
