Email spam appears to be from Florida Motor Vehicles

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is warning you about an e-mail spam message that appears to be from them, but is actually phishing.

The emails comes from DoNotReply@flhsmv.gov as well as another rotating address that looks like a personal account.  It includes information that appears to be receipts from online transactions, including confirmation and tracking numbers.

If you have received this email but have not made a recent transaction, DHSMV recommends you delete it.  If you’ve opened the message you should not click on any links because those may bring you to non-DHSMV websites that may contain malware.

The department says they have not been hacked, but rather this is a span scheme which leads you to believe you are getting emails from a trusted source.  They say they have many measures in place to prevent being hacked.
