Fernandina Beach man bites off guy’s fingertip, deputies say

A Fernandina Beach man was arrested last Saturday after allegedly biting a man’s finger off.

Benjamin Roberts, 52, was charged with aggravated battery with great bodily harm, among other things.

The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said Roberts attacked the victim after he was told to leave.

Investigators said Roberts also bit a woman’s arm several times.

The fight went to the ground and Roberts bit onto the man’s finger for several seconds until about half of it separated, according to the report. Deputies said the fingertip was severed.

Once in custody, deputies found two needles in Roberts’ back pocket. Roberts allegedly told deputies the needles were used for meth.

Roberts’ bond was set at $59,008.00
