FHP: Crash involving pedestrian shuts down I-10

Jacksonville, Fl. — A pedestrian who was hit and killed by a car late Sunday on I-10 near McDuff has been identified by Florida Highway Patrol.

33-year-old Bart Swearingen of Glen St. Mary was walking north across the eastbound lanes of I-10 when he was struck around 11:45pm Sunday, according to an incident report from FHP.

An 18-year-old man from Georgia was behind the wheel of a Saturn that hit the pedestrian. The driver was not injured.

According to the crash report, charges are pending.
