FHP: No New Year's Eve traffic deaths

The Florida Highway Patrol says there were no accidents on New Year's Eve.

FHP Captain Keith Gaston says in his 33 years on the force he's never seen this happen.

"The most amazing thing is when I woke up [Wednesday] morning, I realized it was daylight and my phone did not ring last night, which is always a good sign that means we had no fatalities last night," he said.

Gaston says he thinks the roads were safer because drivers learned from previous accidents and there were more public transportation options.
