NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — Former Nassau County Sheriff Walter Ray Geiger passed away Monday according to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.
Geiger initially worked as an officer at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office from 1960 and retired in 1973.
Geiger then ran for Nassau County Sheriff in 1992 and was elected that December. He served three consecutive terms and ended his term in January 2005.
Funeral arrangements are still being finalized and the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office says they will send out more information when arrangements are finalized.
