IKEA buys land on the Southside for $13 million

It's expected to bring 250 new jobs to our area and all the furniture you could ever need.

Furniture mega-store IKEA is one step closer to coming to Jacksonville.

Property records with the Duval County Clerk of Courts show IKEA has bought 25-acres of land on the Southside for $13-million.

The land sits at Gate Parkway and I-295, not too far from the St. Johns Town Center.

The store's plan is to begin construction sometime this summer and open their doors in the fall of 2017.
