An animal removal company is warning people to look out for snakes after workers caught a 5 1/2 foot water moccasin in St. Johns County on Tuesday.

Quick Catch, a Jacksonville-based wildlife removal company, said in a Facebook post that snakes are on the move because of increased water levels after Hurricane Matthew.

They were called to remove the water moccasin after a homeowner found it curled up on their porch in Nocatee.

The snake measured between 5 feet and 6 to 8 inches long and was the biggest the company has ever caught.

Workers killed the snake after catching it, because the snake had significant injuries from the storm.
