Investments fuel Mayo Clinic Jacksonville growth over 40 years

What started as a five-story building has become a global medical destination.

Jacksonville, Fl — The Mayo Clinic recently markets its 40th anniversary in Jacksonville.

What started as a five-story building has become a massive campus off San Pablo with 12,000 staff, treating more than 184,000 patients annually. It’s a global medical destination that ranks tops in Florida and nationally in eight specialties in US News and World Report.

“Throughout the last 40 years, the dedication, resilience and ingenuity of our teams have driven remarkable progress as we’ve advanced new treatments and redefined what’s possible for our patients,” says Kent Thielen, M.D., CEO of Mayo Clinic in Florida.

“As we look to the future, we remain committed to investing in our people, our facilities and innovative technologies that enable us to Cure, Connect and Transform healthcare, always guided by our primary value: The needs of the patient come first.”

Over the past decade, Mayo Clinic has invested more than $1 billion in campus development, more than doubling its physical footprint.

Over $800 million has been invested in major capital projects that will add more than 725,000 square feet for patient care, biomedical research and technology over the next several years.
