Jaguars DE Calais Campbell named Defensive Player of the Year

Jacksonville, FL — Jaguars defensive end Calais Campbell has been named Defensive Player of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America.

Campbell, who has been declared Mayor of Sacksonville, totaled 14.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, forced three fumbles, and had one fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Campbell was acquired by the Jaguars in March and started all 16 games.  His 14.5 sacks set the Jaguars single-season franchise record, and it was also a career-high.

Campbell was also named a Pro Bowl starter at defensive end.
