Jacksonville, FL — After what was described by Jacksonville Police as a domestic incident in Bartram Springs Sunday, police have announced an arrest connected to the incident.
JSO says 62-year-old Mark Burgos has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery on a person 65 or older.
According to the incident report, police responded to a house on Green Pond Drive Sunday morning after a friend of Burgos’ wife went to check up on him, after his wife couldn’t get in touch with Burgos for a few days.
The report says Burgos and his 86-year-old mother, June Burgos, were found seriously injured. The report says Burgos had cuts on his neck, left arm and abdomen while his mother had head trauma.
The victim, June Burgos, has now died, according to JSO.
According to Burgos’ arrest report, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue personnel say Burgos told them he wanted to die, because he had hit his mother. The report says hospital staff reported him making similar statements.
