JSO Corrections Sgt charged with domestic battery

A 14-year veteran of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has been charged with domestic battery.

WOKV has obtained the arrest report for Corrections Sergeant Troy Harris.  JSO responded to his home Monday evening in reference to a domestic battery.  His wife, Tamara Harris, says the two had a verbal dispute the prior day which escalated. She says Harris pushed her onto the couch in their living room and continued to push her when she tried to get up. She says he also punched her left arm.

She left their home following the fight and returned several hours later to get a few items. She told investigators she waited a day to call police because she “needed time to think about the incident”.

JSO tells us Harris has been reassigned to an administrative job pending the results of the criminal investigation.

Harris spoke to police after he was read his Miranda rights, but his statement is redacted. The report notes that there was a “visible bruise” on his wife’s arm. Investigators also say the entire incident was captured on video surveillance inside the home.

WOKV has requested further information on Harris’ 14-year history with JSO. We will update as soon as more information is available.
