JSO: Man Killed in Jacksonville House Fire

First responders are investigating the incident near the intersection of West 26th Street and Spires Avenue

UPDATE: 11/02/2025 1110 The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says it is asking anyone with information about this morning’s deadly fire to call police.

During a press JSP Sgt. S.D. Dishman said that officers were dispatched after receiving a call about a residential fire.

After the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) put out the blaze, emergency responders found a deceased adult male inside the residence.

JSO says, “Detectives with the Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Unit, and the State Fire Marshal are on scene to conduct an investigation. We are working with the Medical Examiner’s Office and the classification is pending.”

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - At least one person is reported to be dead after a structure fire in Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department are on the scene after being called at approximately 7:00am [EDITOR’S NOTE: Corrected from 10:05am] to 1900 West 26th Street. The location is near the intersection of Spires Avenue.

A press briefing is scheduled for 10:50am.

As of this initial posting, no information regarding other possible injuries or potential property damage is known at this time.
