Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating after a teenager's body was found in Sandalwood, with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
Police say a person walking in a wooded area found the body by a retention pond Wednesday afternoon, near Kusaie Drive and Mareeba Road.
Police identified the victim as 17-year-old Tyon Blair.
JSO Sgt. Mark Musser says the person who discovered the body knew Blair.
"He was familiar with who he was, he's the one who actually notified some of the possible family members, so he did recognize the individual," says Musser.
Police say they don't know if foul play was involved, but they are treating the death as suspicious.
