Jacksonville, FL — A 24-year-old Jacksonville man has been charged with murder and evidence tampering more than two months after the death of his girlfriend.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says Dontonieo Sapp-Denson initially told police on October 6th that his girlfriend, 21-year-old Tynikkia Tanner, had committed suicide inside their apartment. Police say at the time, her death died appear to from a gunshot wound.
Police say over the course of their investigation, they determined Tanner's death was actually a homicide, not a suicide. JSO says based on the evidence they gathered, it became clear that Tanner was murdered by Denson.
Denson has since been arrested and charged with her murder. Police say the two had a child together.
