Three people have been arrested for the death of a Navy Commander found in an Orange Park hotel.
A judge ruled Wednesday morning that all of three suspects would remain behind bars with no bond on second-degree murder charges.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Orange Park Police have been investigating 44-year-old Commander Alphonso Doss’s death since early February. Doss is from Pensacola but was last stationed in Jacksonville and had served with the Navy since 1987.
He had been staying at the Astoria in Orange Park when police say his estranged wife and two men conspired to kill him and make it look like a robbery attempt.
Investigators say 44-year-old Yolinda Doss helped two men- 33-year-old Ronnie Wilson, of Orange Park, and 29-year-old Anthony Washington, of Jacksonville- get in to Commander Doss’s hotel room while she served as lookout from a nearby parking lot. The men allegedly waited for Doss to return to his room before attacking him. Wilson lived with Yolinda Doss.
Police say the trio was motivated by Doss’s life insurance policy.
Their next court appearance is set for September 3.
