Jury finds man guilty of first degree murder in 2008 death of neighbor

Randall Deviney went on trial a second time on Wednesday. A jury found him guilty on Friday.

The first officer to respond to the scene testified Wednesday morning. She told the court that she found Futrell's partially nude body in her living room with her throat slashed “ear to ear.”

A jury found a Jacksonville man guilty of first degree murder in the 2008 death of his neighbor.

Delores Futrell was found in 2008 in her own home with her throat slashed.

Randall Deviney was convicted of her murder in 2010 and was sentenced to death, but the conviction was overturned by the Florida Supreme Court, which found that police coerced Deviney’s confession.

She said she found it odd that there wasn’t blood in the living room. She later found a pool of blood in the back yard.

When the jury saw a picture of Futrell's body, two women in the courtroom got up and left, holding back tears. A few jurors looked away.

The murder retrial will continue throughout the day. Action News will have a full report on the trial on CBS47 Action News at 5 p.m.
