Man connected to Putnam County homicide arrested in Jacksonville

Jacksonville, FL — A man who was wanted by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department for a homicide has been arrested in Jacksonville.

38-year-old Joseph McKee was named as a suspect in a weekend homicide on Sand Lake Road.

McKee was located around 6am today by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and arrested.

Putnam Deputies said they were called to a home on Sand Lake Road at 3:40 a.m. Sunday after a man found the 38-year-old woman -- his roommate -- dead in their yard.

Cpl. Joseph Wells with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said the woman and McKee were acquaintances, but their relationship was unclear.

Deputies believe McKee had taken the woman’s 1990 red Nissan truck. It was found near the Waldo flea market later Sunday morning.

Deputies said a black, Ford F-250 was reported stolen from the area around the same time.  They believed he may have been in a 1995 or 1996 truck with a silver toolbox.
