Man shot Sunday on Spring St. in Lackawanna crashes car on McDuff Ave. on the Westside, police said

The man, in his 30s, is in critical but stable condition as police search for a suspect

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police are investigating a shooting involving a man struck by gunfire on Spring Street who crashed his car a short distance away on McDuff Avenue on the city’s Westside.

Upon arrival at the crash scene, officers found a man in his early 30s suffering from several gunshot wounds to several areas of his body, police said later in the day, police said.

The victim was transported a local area hospital where his injuries are currently listed as critical but stable.

After the crash, employees of a nearby business located the victim and called 911. It was later discovered the scene of the shooting was the 100 block of Spring St., which is nearby.

At this time, investigators believe this to be an isolated incident. There is no suspect description. As of late-afternoon, detectives said they had not been unable to speak with the victim.

Crime scene detectives were processing the scene for evidence. Detectives with the Robbery and Violent Crime Unit were interviewing witnesses, canvassing for surveillance video, and following up on investigative leads.
