Adecco Group plans to bring its North American headquarters to Jacksonville along with a promise of 185 new jobs.
WOKV News has learned the state will pay for nearly $1.6 million in incentives, and Jacksonville will pick up 20 percent, which comes to $407,000.
The incentives would be paid out over a five-year period starting in 2016 after the jobs are created and verified by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, according to Mayor Brown’s spokesman Dave DeCamp.
The jobs, on average, pay about $64,000 a year before benefits. DeCamp says they will generate almost $12 million in annual payroll.
“We believe that this adds to our payroll and our workforce here in Jacksonville,” DeCamps says. “It increases the relevance of Jacksonville in the national global economy by having a corporate headquarters for North America within Jacksonville. And it adds to really what is a growing economy here.”
Mayor Brown’s administration will introduce legislation at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting. The council must approve the incentives package.
