More coronavirus vaccination locations could soon be coming to Florida

Jacksonville FL — During a press conference Wednesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said plans are in the works to possibly bring more coronavirus vaccination options for school staff, law enforcement officers, and firefighters age 50 and up. He says the plan is to partner with school districts and law enforcement agencies to set up “PODS” to offer the newly approved Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

“I think we could get thousands and thousands of people through each of these sites very quickly.” DeSantis says.

He says the state will get 175,000 doses with the first shipment and they are hoping to get that shipment by the end of this week. As far as the possible locations, DeSantis says they would generally be located in communities just outside of where the new federally run sites opened.

More information on these “PODS” is expected to be released soon.
