Jacksonville — The son of a woman found dead in her Westside home this week is now under arrest in Delaware. 26-year-old Marcus Heath was taken into custody following a high speed chase in a stolen vehicle.
On Tuesday afternoon, Delaware authorities were contacted by Maryland State Police about a 2006 Mercedes with Florida tags on I-95 headed toward Delaware.
Maryland State Police attempted to stop the Mercedes but the driver sped up and continued north into Delaware. Hours later, a homeowner in Delaware called police to report a car with Florida tag was parked in their driveway.
Police say Marcus Heath was in the area when they responded and that he attempted to flee, but was taken into custody.
Heath is currently being held as an out of state fugitive. It’s not clear what charge or charges he may be facing out of state.
Late on Wednesday the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed the death of 55-year-old Voncile Heath was being investigated as a murder. JSO has not said whether Marcus Heath is a suspect in her death.
Voncile Heath was found dead Tuesday morning in her home on Mossbrook Court.
