Local base closures ahead of Hurricane Irma

Jacksonville, Fl. — Naval Air Station Jacksonville Commanding is ordering the closure of NAS Jacksonville to non-essential personnel beginning at noon, on September 9 as Hurricane Irma moves closer to the First Coast. Only mission essential personnel will have access to the base. Monday 9/11 and Tuesday 9/12 will be considered days of administrative leave for all personnel (active duty and civilian) assigned to the station.

Only mission essential Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) personnel should report to work on Wednesday, Sept. 13. All FRSCE employees are asked to call 1.888.FRC.SEOK (372.7365) for work schedules updates.

The Yorktown main gate will remain open. The Visitor Control Center (Pass and ID office, building 9) will be closing at noon on Saturday. All deliveries determined essential to the station must be met by sponsors at the gate.

The Commander of the Navy Region Southeast has issued authorization for all non-essential civilian employees and family members of active duty military and civilian employees living in the counties/zones where officials have issued an evacuation order (mandatory or voluntary.) The safe haven designation is within 300 miles of Atlanta which means evacuees can be reimbursed for lodging within the area.

All military members, their families, and civilians are required to check into the Navy Family Accountability and Assessment System (NFAAS). You can go www.navyfamily.navy.mil or use their phone app for accountability after the storm. You can also call the NAS Jax Quarterdeck at 904.542.2338.
