Jacksonville, FL — It thankfully only caused minor damage, but the National Weather Service in Jacksonville is now confirming a weak tornado touched down on Monday afternoon in St. Johns County.
A viewer sent Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh a video of a possible funnel cloud moving near Palencia during storms.
The National Weather Service has now confirmed that an EF0 tornado did touch down on Rio del Norte Road, along the intracoastal in Palencia.
The agency reports there was minor damage to two newly constructed roofs. A fence was also said to be partially blown down and several trees were either downed or uprooted.
