Police chase leads to deadly crash in neighborhood on Jacksonville’s Northside

Jacksonville FL — Jacksonville Police are investigating a deadly crash which started as a police chase Monday night. JSO says they were involved in a joint operation with several other law enforcement agencies and one of the officers involved in the operation saw an SUV which was driving dangerously. Police say that officer started a pursuit of that SUV which had several people inside at that time. Ultimately, JSO says that SUV crashed on East 44th St. near the Tallyrand neighborhood and one person inside died. We’re told several others were taken to the hospital with injuries, meanwhile Jacksonville Fire and Rescue tells us they responded to the same area as the crash and three people were taken to the hospital, all with serious injuries, in addition to the one who died.

One woman who lives close to where the SUV crashed tells us she was frantic when it first happened.

We’re told no officers were injured in the incident.

"To see it hit the tree, that very well could have been my house.” Porsche Ford says.

At this time, its unclear if the driver of the SUV or one of the passengers was killed and how the SUV ultimately crashed.
