Police looking for bank robbery suspect in San Marco

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office are searching for a bank robbery suspect in the San Marco area.

Police say a white man, approximately 45-years-old, walked into the Wells Fargo bank around 9:20 a.m. and passed a note to the teller indicating he had a gun and demanded money. He also told the teller to not activate the alarm.

Four employees and two customers were inside the bank at the time. Police say the teller complied and handed the man the money. The amount of money stolen is still being counted.

The man was wearing a blue t-shirt, blue jeans, and a white ball-cap. He was also wearing a face mask at the time.

The man ran south on Thacker Avenue. No one was harmed during the robbery and a gun was never seen.

Police say this is the fifth bank robbery in 2021. In 2019 there were approximately 18 bank robberies, according to a JSO spokesperson. In 2020, there were only two.
