Police searching for driver in Mayport hit and run

A man was found dead Monday morning by the Florida Highway Patrol in Port St. Lucie after his pickup truck ended up in a ditch containing water, FHP spokesman Sgt. Mark Wysocky said.

Jacksonville, Fl. — Jacksonville Police are trying to put the pieces together and locate the driver involved in a fatal hit and run in the Mayport area.

A pedestrian was hit on State Road A1A near Nantucket Road late Sunday night. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue pronounced the person dead when they arrived at the scene.

Witnesses tell police they saw a gray SUV flee the area of the crash south on A1A.
