Roommate arrested for brutal Arlington murder

The roommate of an Arlington man has been arrested for his murder.

Joe-Nathan Williams was found dead inside his home on Jasper Avenue Monday afternoon.  When Fire/Rescue crews arrived they found Williams on the floor, suffering from severe trauma caused by a large cutting instrument, such as a hatchet, machete, or large knife.

In a news conference Friday morning, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Chief of Detectives Adam Brown announced the arrest of Stephen Bentley.

"Our detectives learned through statements made by neighbors that Bentley was the victim's roommate and that he was observed at the apartment prior to police being called with a cut and/or blood on his hands", said Brown.

Police say Bentley was also seen by neighbors fleeing the area in a vehicle before the victim's body was found.

Cops tracked Bentley to the Tampa area, where he was arrested Thursday evening by US Marshals in Lutz.

He is being held on a detainer for the charge of murder, and will be transfered back to Jacksonville to face a charge of murder.
