Sheriff: "Pretty good idea" what happened during night of triple murder

JSO still pushing for tips on what happened at Cleveland Arms Apartments

Detectives have a "pretty good idea" of what happened the night five people were shot near an apartment complex in Northwest Jacksonville.

That's the word from Sheriff Mike Williams as the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office hopes for a break to solve a triple murder.

Speaking to WOKV News during a JAX Chamber event in downtown Jacksonville, Williams also said detectives are trying to nail down as many details as possible on what happened at the Cleveland Arms Apartments.

"We still are getting a lot of good tips, a lot of good leads," Williams added. "We're continuing to work on that."

Three of the five victims - 22-year-old Kadejah Williams, her 11-month-old son Tedashii and 18-year-old Xacia Burnem - died soon after the shooting took place Sunday night, sparking a wave of outrage throughout the city, including a "mad as hell" Jacksonville mayor.

That outrage has led to a lot of tips for JSO to pursue, according to Williams, mainly from those who live around the area.

"The community at the scene has really stepped up," Williams noted. "It's very encouraging to hear that."

Williams wouldn't comment on any potential suspects at this point but did say more information on the case could be released as soon as today.

Meanwhile, the Baptist Ministers Conference of Duval County held a press conference at the apartment complex this morning, encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
