Teen dead, woman hurt after both hit by car in Flagler

FHP: Charges pending against driver

The family of a 16-year-old Palm Coast girl is grieving this morning after she was hit and killed by a car.

It happened around 9 o'clock last night in a dark part of the city's "L" section, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The FHP report shows Michelle Ann Wood Taylor and a 21-year-old Palm Coast woman were walking on the right shoulder of Lakeview Boulevard at Laramie Drive when a 2016 Honda Civic heading north struck them both.

Taylor died at the scene.

The other victim - identified by FHP as Elizabeth Ann Sherman - was flown to UF Health in Jacksonville in serious condition.

The driver - 37-year-old Yajaira Rojas Torres of Daytona Beach - wasn't hurt.

Charges are pending at this time

Troopers tell us that the driver wasn't able to see those people walking because it was very dark and both had dark-colored clothing on.

Alcohol or drugs aren't believed to be factors, per FHP.
