An accidental shooting in Fruit Cove leaves a 17-year-old with minor injuries.
St. Johns County deputies responded to a home on Lemonwood Road Wednesday night. The victim had a single gunshot to the chest and was taken to Orange Park Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives spoke with the victim and witnesses. They learned a 19-year-old friend brought the handgun to the home to show his friends. Exact details of what led to the gunfire haven’t yet been released, but the Sheriff’s Office says all evidence at this time suggests it was an accidental discharge.
