Jacksonville, FL — It's a daily pressure point that has probably made you late to work countless times, but finally there is some relief on the East Beltway through Baymeadows.
FDOT says three lanes have opened northbound on the East Beltway from 9B to JTB, which should ease daily congestion during the peak of morning rush hour.
The East Beltway Express Lanes project got started in the spring of 2016 and won't be fully wrapped up for another year. But, as of this morning, you'll find one additional lane headed work, and with the additional lane that was added southbound last week, you should be running on schedule more often than not.
Once fully complete, two tolled Express Lanes will stretch between 9B and JTB. The northbound lanes will have access points between Philips and 9B, and at 9B. The southbound lanes will have access points before JTB and near Gate Parkway. Traffic from Gate and Baymeadows will not be able to access the Express Lanes, and there will be no option to exit those lanes to get to Gate or Baymeadows. The Express Lanes will be tolled.
