NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — A scary situation unfolded on Apr. 11, 2022 as deputies in Nassau County were called to a gas station on U.S. Highway 1. The victim said that a man, later identified as Ivan Fox, jumped into his truck that was occupied with two children, aged 4 and 11.

The suspect drove off about 150 feet before getting the children out of the vehicle and then driving off. He drove into Georgia and then back into Hilliard.
Fox then fled on foot and was later caught by K9 handler Beth Smith, K9 Rogue and help from Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office K9s who also assisted in the search.
“Reunited and it feels so good”
Fast forward to Thur., May 11, 2023. That’s when the now 12-year-old girl, her mother and big sister attended Nassau County Sheriff’s Office’s Women’s Self-Defense Mother’s Day class.
The best part; the family got to reunite with Deputy Smith and K9 Rogue. Smith taught her how to defend herself in a dangerous situation.
