Jacksonville, FL — Vice President Mike Pence is bringing his message of the benefits of the US, Mexico, Canada trade agreement to Jacksonville.
During an event at the Schultz Center in Spring Park Monday, Pence urged those in the audience to go out and tell Congress to pass the agreement. Pence says farmers in Florida would benefit from the trade agreement. He says recently agricultural tariffs imposed by Mexico and Canada on American pork, cheese and orange juice were lifted.
“Under this new agreement Florida’s farmers are gonna win like never before.” Vice President Pence says.
The trade deal got a boost on Friday when the President lifted special tariffs on steel and aluminum imported from Canada and Mexico.
Congressman John Rutherford was also at the event and he mentioned the trucking industry in Northeast Florida could benefit as well by allowing drivers to move goods all across the U.S.
After the event Pence went over to NAS Jax to speak with military families before departing on Air Force Two.
