Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville Beach Police Department is releasing new surveillance video, in hopes of finding the gunman responsible for fatally shooting a 23-year-old man over the weekend.

The victim, later identified by police as Leon Bennett, then walked north along 1st Street, until several black male subjects drove up in a white four-door sedan-style vehicle. Police say one of the suspects in that car shot the suspect, and the vehicle then fled west on 7th Avenue North.

Family members of Bennett say he leaves behind two young children-- a 2-year-old and a 5-month-old.

Police have now found surveillance video that shows a person of interest in Bennett’s death, as well as the vehicle of interest.

If you have any information about the person or vehicle, you’re asked to contact JBPD Detective Kulcsar at 904-270-1661
