JACKSONVILLE, FL. — The Summer heat continues and we’ll have a little drier conditions for the rest of this week, but that doesn’t mean showers are completely out of the picture.
After the driest June on record, the month of July is making up for lost time on rainfall. In fact, since the beginning of the month, the Jacksonville International Airport has seen 7.5 inches of rain, which is more than the average for the entire month of July.
For Tuesday, Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh is tracking a few, quick scattered showers or even a rumble of thunder moving off the Gulf of Mexico, so a few spots could see an early morning shower, mainly south of I-10.
Then we’ll break out into a good deal of sunshine with temperatures heating up into the mid 90s. Feels-like temperatures will be above 100 degrees.
Buresh says 30 to 40% of the area could see a thunderstorm this afternoon, moving from the southwest to the northeast. They will have locally heavy downpours but they’ll be hit and miss and not as widespread as some of our recent storms.
This will stay the weather pattern for much of this week, with high temperatures into the mid 90s each afternoon.
In addition, there are still no areas of concern in the tropics.
